City Council agenda for 5/12/08

The Maplewood Voices Maplewood Calendar is up to date.

The 5:00 PM workshop agenda features two important topics:

E. Old Business
1. Discussion with Arthur J. Gallagher Co. Regarding City Insurance Coverage with LMCIT.
2. Review of Tax Increment Financing (TIF) Request for Proposed Gethsemane Senior Housing.
Starting at 6:30 pm the regular council agenda is the first run with the format revisions intended, at least in part, to manage the time spent on Visitor Presentations.

Approving minutes, Visitor Presentations, Council Presentations, and Administrative Presentations will be in the 6:30-7:00 time block, with public hearings and so on commencing at 7:00 pm. If the 'presentations' are not finished by 7:00 pm, there is a Part II scheduled at the end of the meeting.

The 'Consent Agenda' and 'Award of Bids' have been moved to the end of the agenda (preceeding Part II of the Visitor Presentations).

The intent of these changes proposed by Mr. Hjelle is to have agenda items for which residents show up take place more reliably near 7:00 pm.

Besides the format changes, the agenda features:
  • Hazelwood Street Improvements
  • Kohlman Lane Area Street Improvements
  • Myrtle-Sterling Street Improvements
  • Carver Crossing Development – Consideration Litigation Settlement.
  • Century Avenue Improvements
  • Authorization to Renew Insurance Agent Services with Arthur J. Gallagher Company.
  • Gethsemane Senior Housing District – Consideration of a Resolution Directing Preparation of a Tax Increment Financing (TIF) Plan and Tax Increment District
  • Consider Approval of 2007-2008 Contract between City of Maplewood and Maplewood Confidential and Supervisory Association.
  • Report on TIF Study.
  • Report on Debt Study.
  • Resolution Ordering an RFP for a Recruiting Firm for the Maplewood City Manager Search. Mayor Longrie
  • Discussion and Resolution calling for an Audit by the State Auditor’s Office for the Past Seven Years. Mayor Longrie
