Longrie presents herself as expert at city manager review, hiring process

Elizabeth Mohr reports on the 3/31 city council continuation meeting Manager search is off with a sputter: Mayor decides to 'kick-start' process

Ms. Longrie's agenda item on hiring a city manager was the meeting highlight

Maplewood City Council members disagreed on the hiring of the last city manager. They disagreed when he was fired. And now, they disagree about how a new one should be found.
...
Mayor Diana Longrie introduced the agenda item by reading a five-page memo she wrote to her fellow council members.
...
She said council members have enough expertise to devise and implement the city manager search process by themselves.
...
There was talk of "historical context" for the search in terms of what Maplewood has done in hiring past city managers.

While Longrie suggested they look at the last three managers, Council Member John Nephew said they should omit "the past couple of years."
