Sharing and Caring Hands is an inner city shelter that provides food, clothing, shelter and other services for the poor and homeless.

It also is a place for drug deals and other problems, city officials have said.

Consequently they are threatening to take away the restaurant license shelter operator Mary Jo Copeland needs to serve thousands of meals a week unless she comes up with a security plan to reduce crime in the vicinity of the shelter at 521 N. 7th Street.

A meeting is scheduled April 25.
