Some colleagues and I have had occasion in the last two weeks to attend both MN Senate and House hearings on a bill modifying the open meeting law. Since the legislature is in session, I recommend to anyone whose schedule permits to attend a committee hearing or two.
Warning: the committee calendars are crowded and the work is fast paced. Unlike other performance venues, programs are not provided. If you can, read ahead on not only the substance of the bills to be discussed but also the background of key committee members. Any such fore-knowledge will help you get the most out of the proceedings, including the jokes.
