At a special 2/19/2008 meeting the city council, by unanimous 4/0 vote (Ms. Longrie absent), agreed to a settlement with Mr. Copeland (medium sized pdf). The City agreed to continue pay and benefits through June 14, 2008, and to reimburse Copeland for any outstanding expenses stemming from the November 2007 trip to New Orleans. The City will also reimburse Mr. Copeland for two Christmas wreaths he had purchased.
The City releases all known civil claims against Mr. Copeland; but not any unknown claims, any criminal claims, or the right to include Copeland should any third party sue the City for the consequences of any action or inaction of his for which he does not have statutory immunity.
